Hot video – The Portland Cello Project performs “All Of The Lights”

My inner (former?) band geek self is slightly awakened with the Portland Cello Project’s performance of “All Of The Lights” complete with full orchestra at the Crystal Ballroom back in December. Fun fact, the floor of the Crystal Ballroom bounces; you can jump up and down and bounce. UP had a school dance there (do other normal universities still have dances?) and it was on my 21st birthday. Needless to say, that bouncing didn’t help my hangover from the previous night.

In addition to imagining this with seizure-inducing flashing lights, I am like 99.9% sure that Kanye also envisioned performing this with an entire orchestra. In fact, I bIt’s deet the entire My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album would translate very well with a full orchestra, and it will be interesting to see if he decides to tour with one.

As I alluded to in the first paragraph, yes, I used to be a band geek. That reminds I need to sell my saxophone…  In any case, out of all the various bands I was involved in–full orchestra, concert band, jazz band, show band–full orchestra was by far the most fulfilling since we played the dopest music. If we could barely play Shostakovich and Sibelius, though, I think that we would have butchered “All of the Lights.”
