Kanye’s video for “Monster” has not been banned

I feel like I’m having hella deja vu today. First, Prodigy was released after serving time for weapons charges, which were the same charges that Ja Rule, Weezy, and T.I. faced. Now, I’m reminded of those  false claims that Kanye’s album cover was banned by Walmart because last week, some outlets were saying that the “Monster” video was banned by MTV.

Like WalmartMTV issued a statement that basically says “gossip gossip…just stop it” (too easy). MTV said that the “Monster” video was not banned. Instead, they are just waiting on some requested edits and have been in constant communication with his record label. A rough cut of the video leaked back in December, and Kanye has since released the epileptic seizure-inducing video for “All of the Lights” so it’s safe to say we might never see an edited version of “Monster.”

Kanye is funny. His album cover wasn’t banned, and neither was “Monster.” Despite that, he has gotten a lot of press about being edgy and controversial which he certainly wouldn’t have wanted to dispel. As Kanye would say…Mali-BOO-yeah!
