Album Review – Dirty Money’s Last Train To Paris
It’s like…on the way to Paris, the train collided with about 12 other trains and they were all rebuilt, but with each other’s parts. And then Diddy-Dirty Money’s train picked up a bunch of random artists for features and took them to Paris. That is how disjointed and discombobulated this album feels to me.
When you stop and think about it, you’ll realize just how random it is. First of all, Diddy is STILL making music? But he teams up with one of the members of his 2-hit former girl group Danity Kane? And then some other random girl? And when did the group name change from “Dirty Money” to “Diddy-Dirty Money?” Nothing makes sense to me. I’m more confused by this album than I am by Gucci Mane’s new tattoos.
Normally, I hesitate to buy an album if the singles aren’t good, so I had high hopes because “Angels” and “Hello Good Morning” were hot. “Ass on the Floor” sounds like your typical Swizz Beatz-produced track, and it made me realize how tired I’m getting of him. The other single that’s been released is “Coming Home,” a haunting song that appeared during kind of a sad part of Gossip Girl. But hey, if it is good enough for Gossip Girl, then it’s good enough for me.
The “Looking for Love” track with Usher is probably one of the previously unheard high points of this album, and I had (actually, present tense “have”) written off Usher already as past his prime…by a lot. I also like the Trey Songz track “You Love,” but I’m a little biased due to my adoration of Trigga. And despite the two Wayne appearances and Trigga song, and all those other features, I can’t in good consciousness recommend this album.
Anyway, I think I should wrap this up. I just can’t move past my confusion about this project. In the meantime, can I have my money back?
