I’m not the only person fascinated with the Dougie

I’m not the only person taken with the Dougie, as it appears to be the go-to sports dance now (see above: rookie John Wall’s dance at his home debut for the Wizards) . I know this not because I watch sports, but because the Wall Street Journal has chronicled the integration of the Dougie into sports. I was in band in high school so I never understood football, and I used to like basketball, but the wounds still hurt from the Sonics being sold off to the “Okies” (yeah, I got that from Grapes of Wrath).

Anyway, this is a rather memorable/precious quote from the article:

When athletes meet Mr. Davis, they often greet him by Dougieing, [Doug E. Fresh, the pioneer of the Dougie], says.

“It’s like saying hello,” Mr. Davis says. “I’m honored.”
