Dee-1 hits the streets to raise awareness of the State of the Union Address

Normally, I’m not really a fan of the The League of Young Voters Education Fund (LYVEF). I wasn’t really impressed by them last year, in part because their assembled panel were all Obama supporters anyway, but also because the point of their ustream was to “contextualize” the President Obama’s State of the Union Address. It just seemed a little demeaning to my intelligence because I’m quite capable of listening to him talk and understand what he’s saying.

2012 is a whole new year, and with that, it appears that the League of Young Voters Education Fund is taking a slightly different approach for this year, likely because it’s an election year. The video features Goldie Taylor, who works for MSNBC, CNN, and TheGrio.com (yeah I don’t know), with Dee-1, who I just really like, hitting the streets to talk about issues and shit with voters.

I don’t know if it’s been rebranded to Barack Talk 2012 to help with reelection efforts, or because Barack is talking for the State of the Union Address. Works either way, I suppose, although it was kind of obvious that it was geared toward specifically voting for Obama, with the “the first time I voted…” But whatever.

When I first glanced at “Barack Talk,” I thought it said “Barack Back.” If Obama is reelected, what rapper will release “Barack Back?”

Here’s the info about the LYVEF viewing party and panel over ustream. Will you be watching the State of the Union this Tuesday?
