Big Boi decides to gracefully end his career
Last week, Big Boi signed a one record, solo deal with Def Jam, which will probably cause his rap career to slowly sputter out. He will be releasing his upcoming album, Sir Luscious Left Food: The Son of Chico Dusty (yeah I don’t know either) on the label and obviously the distribution of Def Jam must have been a large selling point for him. However, Def Jam hasn’t been the same for years, and LA Reid isn’t helping much. How can I explain the state of Def Jam? LA Reid keeps spending money on older artists, Big Boi and Shyne, instead of scouting for and developing new talent. It seems like kind of a lost cause, and a constant black hole to send money down…kind of like our current government. But Big Boi is one of the better lyricists out there, so I have semi high hopes for this project.
