Dude...Miguel is kind of the shit. Last month's Art Dealer Chic Vol. 1 had me listening to "Adorn" on repeat, many times, and this month's second installment is just filthy all around.
I haven't listened to a lot of Miguel, but from a completely ignorant and uninformed standpoint, I feel like this collection is a little more upbeat than his previous work. I didn't really connect with any of his singles that I saw splashed across MTV Jams, as impressive as the visuals were. The juxtaposition of his vocals on these tracks, with the upbeat, electronic influences, is dope, and I'm excited to hear what's next.
So I was enjoying myself, listening to "Arch N Point," and "All," when I hear him talking on "Broads" about leaving it verse-less so artists can go in on it. I'm not even mad! I've thought long and hard about who I would want to hear on it, and of course, the first person who comes to mind is Juicy J. However, I was also thinking about how "All" was a little reminiscent of a couple Dream songs mashed together, so I wouldn't be mad at his inclusion on here as well. I also feel like J. Cole could body this song as well.
Clearly, though, the point of not including "Broads" with a feature is to demonstrate how he can own it himself. Well done, Miguel. I wish I had seen you at SXSW.
