Hot video – Asher Roth “Common Knowledge”

Is Asher Roth a hippie? I feel like I should make some pun about him being dope, that it's "Common Knowledge" or something, but I wouldn't say that that is common knowledge because once upon a time, when "I Love College" came out, he was not dope. If trap music is my guilty pleasure, then Asher Roth might very well be my guilty guilty pleasure (no, the double use of "guilty" does not negate the fact that he's still a guilty pleasure). Whatever. I used to hate Asher Roth and love Lil Wayne, and now it's the opposite. I downloaded Pabst & Jazz, and I'm going to be honest when I say that I haven't listened to it solely because it wasn't tagged correctly so each song is like its own album. That shit drives me crazy, especially when I have minimal songs on my iPhone so I can keep it organized. #FirstWorldProblems. I kind of like this video. Do any other rappers besides Macklemore ever wear cowboy hats?

Hot song – Asher Roth “Common Knowledge”

Asher Roth is one artist who I never, ever, in a million, bajillion years, thought I would like. When he first came out with "I Love College," I hated him! Like worse than nails grating on a chalkboard, or Drake, or, dare I say, Bruno Mars. Yeah, I just couldn't understand his appeal, or what people saw in him. But when I heard the "Fat Raps" (remix) on Big Sean's Finally Famous: Volume 3, I was like, shit, that's Asher Roth?! On a completely unrelated note, how many mixtapes and albums can you have, that all include "Finally Famous" in their title, before you're famous? But seriously, Asher had a tight verse on there. So tight that my mind was changed. And here we are with "Common Knowledge," produced by Blended Babies. I don't know much about the Blended Babies, other than they have a song on Pac Div's The DiV. But, they've been making some noise lately, that I've seen on the blogosphere (my Google Reader). I really like Asher's flow on "Common Knowledge." He just sounds kind of relentlessly nonchalant, and it comes off well. I never thought I would say that about Asher! Asher is kind of a QT. Well, when his music first dropped, he was. Now he looks like he's homeless and doesn't shower. I guess it's a fair trade off? Good looks for good music? Download via Fake Shore Drive
